The Month of Christmas Jerry Goldberg, Manager Archives & Special Events
In a way, Liberace treated the whole year as if it were Christmas. No matter where he traveled to perform, he was always on the lookout for unique gifts for family, friends and business associates. He would slip out in the evening and often would purchase dozens of an item he felt would make a great gift. The gift items were placed in a warehouse until it was time to give them but the general rule was that Liberace only gave things he would love to receive himself!
Liberace derived a lot of pleasure in lavishly decorating all of his homes. No detail was spared. He enjoyed having a number of parties throughout the entire month at his various homes with smaller groups so he could have conversations with all of his guests. The big party on Christmas Eve was reserved for a family reunion in his Palm Springs home. A sumptuous feast was prepared and the highlight was the opening of the presents. Liberace saved his for last and the gift opening went well into the night!!!
