Sparkle at Liberace! Children's Arts Programs A Call for Volunteers!
The first workshops will be targeted to children from the neighborhood immediately surrounding The Liberace Museum. Volunteer faculty for the workshops will include talent from Broadway as well as local performers and artists. The workshop curriculum is still in development but the goal is to provide exposure to: vocal and instrumental music; musical theatre and dance; and fine art including painting and drawing.
Additionally, these exuberant volunteers plan to host children’s arts showcases in the Spring of 2009 that will feature talent in the performing and creative arts from around the Las Vegas valley. Then, in late spring of 2009, “Sparkle” volunteers will host a children’s arts festival featuring visual and performing art created by children.
Our presenting sponsor to launch “Sparkle” is Liberace Foundation board member Jack Rappaport and the Rappaport Foundation. Mr. Rappaport has generously provided a $2,500 grant to help launch the program and has challenged volunteers, members of the Liberace Foundation and Museum, and staff cast members to triple this amount in order to fully fund these exciting programs for children.
We need VOLUNTEERS! If you love the arts and love working with children, “Sparkle” with us and be a part of something completely new and unique – a multifaceted (like sparkling jewels) program designed to inspire young talent in all areas of the arts.
